Koala Sim Activation, Validity And Expiry Policy
Koala Sim plan validity begins automatically upon first network connection in the destination country. Installing an eSIM profile does not start plan validity and is recommended prior to travel. Validity is measured in calendar days using the destination country’s local time, and data access ends immediately when the plan expires. Once an eSIM connects to the destination network, it cannot be reissued or refunded.
Activation
Activation occurs automatically when the eSIM first connects to a supported mobile network in the destination country.
- Activation does not occur at the time of eSIM installation.
- No manual activation step is required from the user.
- Users are encouraged to install the eSIM before travel.
- An installed eSIM may show an error or appear inactive until it connects to the destination network.
Installation Before Travel
Koala Sim eSIMs can be installed in advance without starting plan validity. This installation-first approach is recommended to ensure connectivity upon arrival.
Installation Window
An eSIM must connect to the destination network within 30 days of installation. If the eSIM has not connected within this period, it may no longer be eligible for activation.
Validity Period
Plan validity is measured in calendar days and begins on the day of first network connection in the destination country.
- Day 1 counts as the calendar day on which first network connection occurs, regardless of the time of day.
- Validity is calculated using the destination country’s local time zone.
- Data access remains available continuously throughout the validity period, subject to plan terms.
Koala Sim plans do not pause or suspend during the validity period, and no mid-period resets occur other than any daily data allowance resets explicitly defined for certain plans.
Expiry Behaviour
When a plan expires, data access ends immediately.
- No grace period applies after expiry.
- Data connectivity stops at the end of the final valid calendar day.
- No advance expiry notification is guaranteed.
Reinstallation, Reissue, and Refund Boundaries
- An eSIM profile can only be installed once.
- If an eSIM is deleted from a device, it cannot be reinstalled, even on the same device.
- If an eSIM has not connected to the destination network, Koala Sim may be able to reissue the same eSIM.
- Once an eSIM connects to the destination network, it cannot be reissued or refunded.
